Catherine Salzman, Director of Heartwood, has over 15 years of experience in market research, marketing, strategy, and data journalism. She is also experienced in facilitation and creative problem-solving techniques. She has worked with organizations of all sizes from global brands to local non-profits. Catherine is certified in Design Thinking from IDEO, Creative Problem-Solving from CPSI, social media listening from Netbase, and others.

Heartwood's name is inspired by Catherine's love of nature and trees. The wood found in the trunk of the tree is called the heartwood, and it contains the hidden story of a tree's life within its rings. Like the rings of a tree, Heartwood helps organizations discover and tell their stories.
